Facilities management in China booming industry though training still key area of concern
As research for the programme of what will be the most significant FM conference in China this year conclusions have been reached that while all aspects and subsectors are booming in China there is still a significant requirement for more training and skilled personnel to respond to demand.
The challenges facing the industry stem from it being both so large and so new. While there are increasing numbers of qualified and trained personnel the range of experiences of people with in the industry is enormous meaning that the conference must cater to managers new to the concept, who are supervising the set up of a facilities management function through to experienced FMs who are looking for new approaches to the China market.
Experts from Hong Kong and Taiwan have been sourced to address the questions brought up in the first section of the conference, namely, what is the state of the industry in Greater China today. Speakers will look at the development of FM as a profession in Asia and how that might apply to China's growth. while identifying business opportunities for those new to the market they will also cover one of the most basic problems facining the industry: how to define FM.
This will lead into a section that is all about unlocking the power of FM in your organisation – what to do with minimum resources and obtaining senior management support.
