Established in 1984, The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is the only professional organization representing the surveying profession in Hong Kong. As of July 2010, the number of members reached 7,528 of which 4,986 were corporate members. The Institute's work includes setting standards for professional services and performance, establishing codes of ethics, determining requirements for admission as professional surveyors, and encouraging members to upgrade skills through continuing professional development.The Institute has an important consultative role in government policy making and on issues affecting the profession. We have advised the Government on issues such as unauthorized building works, building safety campaign, problems of property management, town planning and development strategies, construction quality and housing problems. We have also issued guidance notes on floor area measurement methods. |
IFMA – Hong Kong Chapter International Facility Management Association (www.ifma.org.hk) are the leading FM authority in the Asia Region, established on 14th September 1992 by ten facility managers, now with over 180 members. IFMA is a non-profit association dedicated to serving the facility management profession. The Hong Kong Chapter has a busy program of educational and special events offering many opportunities for professional growth and networking. |
The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (The HKIFM) is a non-profit making organisation inaugurated in 2000. It was formed by a group of professional people who are actively involved in the field of facility management. The Institute is run by an elected Council that has a number of committees covering aspects on membership, education, corporate affairs, research and communications.
The main objective of the HKIFM is to promote facility management as one of the leading disciplines and professions in the management of built asset and facilities in Hong Kong. The HKIFM aims to provide the opportunity for practitioners from different professional background to acquire a recognised professional facility management qualification. The HKIFM will involve in the training of facility managers, maintenance of professional standard as well as being the focus of excellence in the development and promotion of facility management techniques and know-how in the region. |

RICS (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is the mark of property professionalism worldwide. It covers all aspects of property, construction and associated environmental issues. RICS has 140,000 members globally and represents, regulates and promotes the work of property professionals throughout 146 countries. RICS Asia supports a network of over 11,000 individual professionals with an objective to help develop the property and construction markets in these countries. |
AIIB was established in 2001 to act as an independent and academic institute to offer consultancy, researches, reviews, feedback, practical advice, evaluations to the Community and the Government. AIIB has been growing in the last decade to liaise colleagues in the building industry and academia in the related research fields who understand and experience the need to upgrade the management and operational systems of conventional buildings. The AIIB is successful to provide continuous support and active involvement for the HKSAR Government, developers, contractors and property investors to build better buildings with intelligence. Hong Kong should be the center of the Asian IB industry in the coming future and take a leading role in its development through the SAR’s own IB technologies and expertise. AIIB will become a leading organization in HK aiming at the development of Asia’s definition and standards for IBs and educating and promoting the community benefits of IBs and working with international counterparts and chapters like Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, and mainland China, to bring Asia up to date on developments in IBs. |
